With the Hario Barista Scale, you can keep an eye on both weight and brew time at the same time – two key variables for truly great coffee. This allows you to specifically adjust your coffee-to-water ratio and brew time and better understand how small adjustments affect the flavor of your cup. The scale measures up to 200 g with an accuracy of 0.1 g. Beyond that, it weighs up to 1,000 g in 0.5-g increments and up to 2,000 g with gram-level precision. The easy-to-read LCD display clearly shows both weight and time. The tare function also lets you quickly reset the scale to zero – handy when you want to weigh directly into the filter or container.
What Brewing Methods is it Suitable for?
With pour-over methods (such as V60, Chemex, or Kalita Wave), water is poured in stages at specific intervals. Since you need to continuously monitor weight and time throughout the entire brewing process, the scale is particularly well-suited for these methods.
While the scale provides the necessary precision for espresso, it is simply too large for the drip tray of most machines.
